There are no ongoing or set-up fees.

Customer's opt-in to add carbon offset to their basket during checkout.  Future Neutral takes a small portion from this fee to cover administration and business growth.  The split is 75:25, carbon offset:Future Neutral.  Our goal is to get to a 91:9 split as we scale.

The integration is completely customised to match your store and theme.

During installation nothing goes live until you approve the integration.

The integration can be disabled at anytime thereafter.

The fee paid during transactions is broken down as follows, and carbon offset is purchased from verified, trusted and transparent sources. The certificates are then displayed on this website.

Many of us can afford to have a $4 coffee. Can you afford $4.12? Small change to make a big difference. The fee is then broken down into two segments: 75% is attributed to the carbon offset. 25% covers offset due diligence, software development and everyday business expenses.

We aim to get to a 91:9 split in the future as the business scales.

The fee was worked out by looking at an individual’s yearly average carbon footprint.  We then look at how much it costs to offset a year’s worth of carbon. Rather than paying that in a lump sum, we average it out over an individual's yearly average retail transactions.

So a simple way to show this formula would be:

Your Carbon Footprint x Cost of Carbon Offset Per Tonne / All Your Retail Transactions.

This works out to be 3%, and accounts for a positive reduction, that is the offsets bought actually go beyond neutral.  

It’s important to note, we don’t presume to offset your actual ‘purchase’ whatever that may be.  We provide a voluntary offset that is appended to the transaction to contribute to reducing your yearly carbon emissions and more.

To work out the carbon offset of individual items that someone buys consistently, and accurately, would be virtually impossible due to the inherent complexities in supply chain.

A carbon offset refers to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.  Carbon dioxide is the most common of these gases, though human activities also produce many other greenhouse gasses.  

A carbon offset broadly refers to one of two things:

1 - A reduction in GHG emissions, e.g. replacing coal fired energy with renewable.

2 - Storing or sequestering carbon e.g. planting trees or land restoration.

Future Neutral purchases certified credits which are quantified to represent an emission reduction of one metric tonne of CO2, or an equivalent amount of other GHGs.  These are purchased from the United Nations.
